Advice
Be self motivated. There's a lot you can do at the Riverton Office Building, come hungry for work and unafraid of new experiences and you can accomplish much here.

Grounds Maintenance Worker

What I liked
I liked the atmosphere of the place that I worked, it was inclusive and my coworkers were amazing. I also enjoyed the work that I did, being outside in the dirt and taking care of grounds can be hard, but very rewarding.
What I wish was different
Really the only thing I wish had been different was the hot temperatures. Working outside in the heat can be very exhausting, but we were given many breaks and opportunities to get out of the sun which helped.
Advice
Make sure to stay hydrated and it is important that you enjoy physical labor in any weather conditions.

Everyone was patient and helpful and would listen to my ideas.

I wish I’d had more of a mentor I could go to for help and feedback. I had three different people that were there at different times so it was difficult to know who I reported to.
Advice
Be open to learning! I am not a technology kind of person at all and so I just took notes and looked up what I didn’t understand which helped me learn much faster and be able to contribute.

I worked an AM shift (12 am to 12 pm) which was strenuous.

If you get this internship, you will be able to get a job at any other Security Operation Center.

What I liked
My favorite part about volunteering in Japan was definently the people I was able to work with and meet. I was able to make so many new friends, whom I still keep in contact with today. I was also able to learn Japanese as well as more about the Japanese culture. Japan and it's people have made a big impact on my life, for the better.
