We foster an inclusive culture and are looking for diverse, talented people to join Alcon. As a Principal Scientist you are responsible for demonstrating quality scientific leadership by applying your expertise to identify and resolve complex problems. This position is in Fort Worth, TX.
In this role a typical day will include:
- Independently developing non-standard procedures of higher complexity, which requires studying multiple variables and critical attributes to achieve functional deliverables.
- Providing technical leadership and scientific expertise to identify and resolve complex analytical issues developing thorough, practical solutions that are consistent with organization objectives and require creativity.
- Answering ad hoc questions related to chemical separation, chemical identification, characterization, spectral interpretation, or structural elucidation.
- Independently designing and implementing complex, non-standard laboratory studies to solve technical challenges.
- Communicating and collaborating with colleagues within the function and within sub-teams and with supervisor/ mentor.
What you’ll bring to Alcon:
- Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent years of directly related experience (or high school +13 yrs; Assoc.+9 yrs; M.S.+2 yrs; PhD+0 yrs)
- The ability to fluently read, write, understand and communicate in English
- 5 Years of Relevant Experience
- Work hours: Standard M-F
- Travel Requirements: Minimal

Preferred qualifications:
- Prior experience working in a regulated laboratory setting per GLP/GDP requirements.
- Experience with HPLC, UPLC, LC-MS, GPC/SEC method development.
- Prior experience in medical device and/or polymer-based device development
