What I liked
The work culture at Lutron beats no other. Company promotes excellent work life balance, and co-workers were excellent mentors. People are always willing to help you understand concepts and bring you up to speed with projects. Work felt like a fun group project and less like a job.
What I wish was different
Nothing!
Advice
Ask lots of questions! Don't be stuck on a problem for 6 hours that can be resolved by talking to a co-worker for 5 minutes.

Manufacturing Engineering Intern
June - August 2021 • Coopersburg, PA
What I liked
The workplace is wonderful and everybody is very nice and welcoming at Lutron. I was able to learn a ton about the processes used and spent a lot of time in the factory measuring the processes.
What I wish was different
My project was quite different than what I thought it would be, since I didn't get to participate in designing new processes or work with product development teams. Instead, I was doing research on improving internal process planning tools, which is a different skillset than what I am interested in.
Advice
Manufacturing engineering at Lutron is much more industrial engineering focused, if you want to work on the machinery used for manufacturing, look at the Tool & Test department. R&D interns used a ton of the coursework in their relevant field.

Embedded Software Engineer
January - August 2017 • Allentown, PA
What I liked
Had hands-on meaningful work developing code that was integrated and run in customer products.
What I wish was different
There is not much in the way of rotation programs for new full-time employees. The location was okay, but definitely not for everyone as it's rather rural.
Advice
Make sure you understand the why of what you did too, you'll need to know for your final presentation in front of senior engineers.
