Lam Research Corporation

Talent Acquisition Intern

June - September 2020 • Tualatin, OR

What I liked

Lam Research has very strong core values and a positive culture that is apparent every day. Lam also values the intern program and made the summer as educational and fun as possible given the current circumstances (COVID-19). I enjoyed that even though I was working as a Talent Acquisition Intern, the intern program allowed me to learn as much as possible about every business unit at Lam to understand the bigger picture!

What I wish was different

Advice

Network as much as you can with everyone, not only in your business unit! Also be willing engage in all of the opportunities Lam offers to connect with others and to learn.

Industrial Engineering Intern

May - August 2020 • Livermore, CA

What I liked

Lam has an awesome culture and strong core values. It is a great environment to work in. Interns are really valued and even though my experience was remote, they did a great job in planning the program for us to take advantage of the opportunity as much as we could. During my time here I learned from many professionals while also being able to improve my skills and apply them to the project.

What I wish was different

Advice

Get involved with the company and network as much as you can! Try to connect with people in other departments to learn about their experiences and skills. Also, be an active listener in the meetings you are part of. You can learn a lot by just listening and seeing what they do. Finally, don't be afraid to ask questions, professionals here are always willing to help!

Hardware Engineering Intern

April - August 2020 • Fremont, CA

What I liked

Lam treats its interns extremely well, as evident by me having an internship during the Covid-19 epidemic. I had the opportunity to learn about the Semiconductor industry, and cutting edge technology. There are many extremely intelligent employees, and I had the opportunity to improve my technical skills by interacting with them. My intern project was also extremely interesting and relevant to my skills.

What I wish was different

Advice

Come in with a learning mentality, and don't be afraid to ask questions. Also, network, network, network!

Consultant

March 2019 • Boise, ID

What I liked

I love the community and reliability on my other coworkers. Coming in at 19 years old working with people of much greater age then me, they made me feel welcome and a part of the team. They have provided me with the best resources available and continue to surprise me everyday with their kindness and generosity.

What I wish was different

I wish I had applied for this role sooner. I was giving an opportunity but waited a few months to really confirm to the job. I wish I went in sooner as it has been the best experience by far.

Advice

One piece I would share is for anyone that is considering working for this company, to pursue it with all you have. This company cares for its employees and looks to make them the best worker they can be. From friendships to community LAM has given me more than I though any job could provide, even at a starting level.

Engineering Intern

July - September 2018 • Fremont, CA

What I liked

I gained a lot of hands on experience in a machine shop and clean room lab.

What I wish was different

I wish my supervisor had more hands on time time with me. He was the director of engineering and had a lot to do with his own team, so I was left hanging.

Advice

Make sure to be proactive about everything. If you aren't sure about anything, make suer to ask. An internship is a learning experience and if your supervisor can't understand that you're still a student and still learning, then it's on him to change that.
