Environmental Intern

May - July 2022 • Waller, TX

What I liked

The company has a very friendly work environment. I like my boss and my coworkers. I learned a lot from the project I was assigned. They also have a lot of fun events for interns such as free bowling and baseball games. I appreciated that they offered corporate housing so that I didn't have to look for an apartment while I was ther.

What I wish was different

I wish they had given us the logins to our laptops during orientation. We all had to call IT to log in.

Advice

Plan out your final project early.

Design Engineer Intern

May - August 2023 • Waller, TX

What I liked

The program is extremely established and organized. All events, project requirements, and presentations have clear expectations and are communicated very well. It is a very kind environment open to questions. The program pushes for connecting with other interns and employees, and is very easy to make lasting connections that will last long after the internship ends. They encourage you to try different areas/departments to find out what you like to do - and they care a lot about your well-being.

What I wish was different

I primarily worked on one project which involved a single software. I would have branched out my disciplines and tried new skills/softwares, as Daikin encourages seeking out what you like to do.

Advice

Talk to people - make friends and connections. There are a lot of interns who are also in the program, and you will interact with them a lot. There are bound to be people you will click with and become friends.

Quality Engineer Intern

May - August 2023 • Houston, TX

What I liked

I love all the people that I have met at Daikin. Everyone is friendly and willing to help. There are events that provide insights to other careers different for your department and chances to network with the VPs. I love the atmosphere and environment of the people working there. I wasn't feeling fearful; instead, I was open to asking questions and being true to myself.

What I wish was different

I wished the process could be more organized with preparation. It does not affect much and is overall a great experience.

Advice

Feel free to express your worries and questions to your teammates and manager. They want to help you learn. If there's anything to be gained from this internship, it's the opportunity to learn.

Compliance Engineer Intern

June - August 2022 • Waller, TX

What I liked

The internship program was really helpful and provided tons of networking opportunities throughout the company. I learned and gained hands on experience within my own role and truly had the real world taste of engineering. I also really liked how the program taught me more about the company and how each department throughout the company work with each other to achieve goals set by the company. I can truly say that without the program I wouldn't be able to perform to the best of my abilities in my role. I also enjoyed connecting and spending time with other interns as the program provides many opportunities to do just that.

What I wish was different

The adjustment period is one aspect that I wish would've been different as it took me a week or two to properly adjust and start communicating with my fellow interns. I truly wish that I got to know most of them early on into my internship however my fellow intern's start dates were scattered throughout the semester which made it a little difficult.

Advice

My advice for someone going into this program would be to not be afraid of networking and communicating with your fellow coworkers and interns. Employees at this company are hands down one of the kindest people you will meet and are extremely accepting of interns. I would recommend to always ask for assistance on tasks or concepts with your fellow coworkers as they aren't hesitant to help you at all. Overall, I highly recommend this internship program/experience!
