TRANSPORTATION ENGINEER INTERNSHIP (Road)

Compensation commensurate with experience.  Internship is in Indianapolis, IN. No relocation assistance for internships. 

Eligible candidates: must be authorized to work in the United States and not require sponsorship, now or in the future, for employment visa status (e.g., H-1B visa status)

JSE has a Road Design Internship opportunity for those seeking a bachelor’s degree of Science in Civil Engineering with a concentration in Transportation. Experience in civil design for roadway projects is desired but not required. Roadway projects include but are not limited to:

  • Interstates, Highways and Freeways
  • Urban streets
  • Various Intersections Including Roundabouts
  • Interchange Layout

 Job Description: (Internship responsibilities will vary)

  • Civil design plans for, road and hydraulic design projects
  • Model road designs using AutoCAD, Civil 3D, MicroStation, and/or GeoPak
  • AASHTO codes, INDOT design manual requirements, and design standards
  • Deadlines and cost targets
  • Required project documentation
  • Additional responsibilities as trainings progress

 Desired Skills and Experience:

  • Pursuing a bachelor’s degree in civil engineering
  • Strong Time management skills
  • Efficient analysis and critical thinking skills
  • Exceptional attention to detail
  • Adequate knowledge of Microsoft Office programs
  • Considerable listening and communication skills
