Microbiology Lab Technician

About the Job:
Ever wondered what goes on behind the scenes to keep our food safe? As a Lab Sample Prep Tech, you’ll be a key player in making sure food samples are ready for testing. You’ll prep samples, track data, and use cutting-edge lab tech to help uncover what’s really in our food. No lab coat experience? No problem—if you’ve got an eye for detail and love hands-on work, we’ll teach you the rest!

What You’ll Do:

🔬 Prep food samples—record, weigh, blend, and get them ready for testing
🧪 Pipette solutions and pour agar to grow microorganisms (science-y but easy to learn!)
📋 Label and track samples so nothing gets mixed up
🔥 Place samples in incubators to grow and analyze results
⚡ Keep the lab stocked and prepped for the next round of testing
📊 Work with our digital lab system (LIMS) to record data accurately
🧼 Keep the lab clean and organized—because clean space = safe space
🚀 Support quality and improvement initiatives to help us work smarter, not harder
✅ Follow safety procedures (lab coats and gloves are your new workwear)

What You Need to Succeed:

✔ Education: Associate’s degree or equivalent experience in a science or lab-related field (but if you’ve got the skills, we’re open!)
✔ Skills:

Strong time management (things move fast here!)

Attention to detail (tiny numbers = big results)

Ability to multitask in a fast-paced lab setting

Basic computer skills to enter and track results
✔ Physical Requirements:

Comfortable standing for long periods

Able to lift up to 50 lbs (we work with media materials)

Good color vision for analyzing samples

The Work Environment:

You’ll be in a high-tech lab, working with cutting-edge food safety equipment. Expect to wear lab gear like gloves and glasses when needed. Some materials may have a slight smell, but we have safety protocols in place to keep things comfortable.
