Entry Level Structures Engineer

Job Summary:

An Entry Level Structures Engineer job is currently available at Belcan in Windsor, CT. This is a full-time direct job with benefits. Great matching candidates will need a Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical or Aerospace Engineering. In this role, you will utilize advanced analytical and CAD tools to conduct structural analyses of jet and rocket engine components including airfoils, rotors, cases, actuation systems, and other hardware including tooling & instrumentations for commercial and military engines.

 

Principle Responsibilities:

  1. Perform structural analyses using Finite Element Analysis (FEA) and post-process results
  2. Provide technical recommendations for optimizing hardware designs
  3. Evaluate stress and life of parts for vibration and fatigue loading
  4. Create and present substantiation documentation of analysis results
  5. Review non-conformance/damage reports
  6. Interface with customers, hardware suppliers, and participate in design reviews/trade studies
  7. Support data acquisition/reduction of hardware vibration environment measurements
  8. Support hardware testing

 

Required Qualifications:

  1. Education:  B.S. or M.S. in Mechanical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, or related field.
  • Minimum cumulative GPA of 3.25
  1. Experience:  Zero to three years’ experience.
  • Strong communication and presentation skills
  • High proficiency with Microsoft Office tools such as Word, Excel, PowerPoint
  • Due to the nature of our work “US CITIZENSHIP IS REQUIRED”

 

Preferred Qualifications & Skills:

  • Experience using FEA software such as ANSYS or NX
  • Experience evaluating strength, stress, deflection, vibration, fatigue, and damage tolerance
  • 3D modeling experience
  • Familiarity with gas turbine components
  • Aerospace experience

 

Decisional Authority:

Resolves matters of technical design direction posed by designers, drafters, or lead designers.

Physical & Risk Effort:

Routine exposure to field conditions or manufacturing environments.

Working Conditions:

Office sedentary; regular travel required for on-site survey and project start-up.

Contacts:

Discipline counterparts, supplier/client representatives, discipline design forces, project services staff, and project manager.

 

We provide a competitive pay and benefits package. This position is offering a salary range of $65,000 to $80,000. Belcan considers several factors when extending an offer, including but not limited to education, experience, geographic location, and discipline.
