Summer Laser Manufacturing Intern
IMRA America, Inc., founded in Ann Arbor, Michigan in 1990, is dedicated to the development of ultrafast fiber laser technologies for commercial applications. IMRA's technology portfolio includes over 450 US and international patents and patent applications. IMRA's femtosecond fiber lasers are ideal for a host of applications ranging from ultrafast measurement instruments to industrial material processing and refractive surgery.
We are seeking summer interns to learn and assist in our manufacturing processes. This will be an immersive experience in high-tech manufacturing.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Candidate must be pursuing a degree in Engineering or Physics
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Interns will be stationed at one of the following areas: Pre-amplifier/oscillator assembly, fiber optic polishing & optical assembly, laser final testing protocol, base plate assembly.
- Performs batch assembly operations to mass produce products in a clean room/laboratory type environment
- Documents assembly and inspection results
- Uses hand tools, small power tools, and other special equipment
- Examines assemblies and optical components with microscopes
- Uses epoxy and other chemical agents (chemical safety provided)
