Industrial Engineering Intern

Are you an Industrial Engineering student looking for hands-on experience in process optimization, data analysis, and operational efficiency? Kodiak Building Partners is seeking an Industrial Engineering Intern to join our team for the summer. In this role, you will work closely with cross-functional teams to enhance productivity, streamline processes, and support strategic improvement initiatives across our brands.

Key Responsibilities

  • Assist in analyzing and optimizing workflows, production processes, and logistics operations.
  • Support the implementation of Lean, Six Sigma, and other industrial engineering methodologies to improve efficiency and reduce waste.
  • Conduct time studies, work measurements, and capacity analysis to improve operational performance.
  • Develop process flow diagrams, standard operating procedures (SOPs), and best practices documentation.
  • Collect and analyze data to identify trends, bottlenecks, and areas for improvement.
  • Assist in the design and implementation of performance metrics and dashboards using Excel, Power BI, or Tableau.
  • Participate in cross-functional projects related to inventory management, supply chain optimization, and facility layout improvements.
  • Collaborate with departments to identify and implement automation and process improvement opportunities.
  • Work on a capstone project, identifying an operational challenge, developing an improvement plan, and presenting recommendations to Kodiak leadership.
  • Support additional industrial engineering and operations projects as needed.

Qualifications

  • Rising junior or senior currently pursuing a degree in Industrial Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, Supply Chain Management, or a related field at a college or university.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with an interest in process optimization and operations efficiency.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel, PowerPoint, Word); experience with Power BI, Tableau, AutoCAD, or simulation software (Arena, FlexSim, etc.) is a plus.
  • Knowledge of Lean, Six Sigma, or other process improvement methodologies is preferred.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to work both independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment.
  • Excellent organizational and time management skills.
  • Eagerness to learn and contribute to real projects.
