PAY RANGE: $22.00 - $27.00
Internship Position for Summer 2025.
Scheduled Work Hours: Flexible hours, 4-day week from Monday - Thursday, 7:00 a.m. – 5:30 p.m.

As an Licensing Engineering Intern, you'll have real responsibilities, and you'll work on productive assignments with actual business interactions. Intern Description:
This position provides students with a realistic engineering experience supporting the safe and efficient operation of a nuclear power plant. Student Engineers are matched with an experienced technical mentor and assigned meaningful real-world engineering projects. The engineering function in Licensing is a primary interface between the governmental regulator (primarily the Nuclear Regulatory Commission) and the company. The Licensing Engineer performs technical analysis of information coming from or being transmitted to the regulator to ensure regulatory compliance is maintained and the Operating License is not invalidated.
- Perform evaluations to assure Wolf Creek is designed, built, operated, maintained, and tested consistent with our license bases.
- Analyze and evaluate conditions for reportability to the NRC.
- Coordinate, generate and prepare regulatory submittals in accordance with appropriate regulations and regulatory requirements.
- Coordinate and manage NRC inspection activities.
This position requires good oral and written communication skills and knowledge of engineering practices and procedures in conjunction with a nuclear power plant.
Education and Experience Requirements:
Second, third- or fourth-year student actively pursuing a degree in Engineering (Electrical, Mechanical, Nuclear, Civil, Chemical and industrial) will be considered. This is an engineering student position preferring a completion of Sophomore Year (60 Hours) prior to start of employment.
Skills, Knowledge, and Abilities Required:
Must be dependable, self-motivated, and detail-oriented and have excellent organizational and proofreading skills. Must possess the ability to work and communicate effectively with other company personnel. Proficiency in word processing, spreadsheets and databases preferred. Must be able to handle multiple priorities and operate efficiently and effectively in high stress environment.
Licenses, Certifications, Bonding, and/or Testing Required:
Must possess a valid driver’s license.
Working Conditions:
Normal office working conditions. Ability to meet deadlines and work well under pressure required. Occasionally some additional hours or weekends may be required. Must have excellent work record including good attendance.
