Interior Systems Engineer, Student Worker Program

This is a 6-month program

Electric Vehicle Digital Design (EVDD) is responsible for developing the key technologies and capabilities – such as EV platforms, batteries, e-motors, inverters, charging and recycling – to create ground-up breakthrough electric vehicles. By joining the best software, engineering, design and UX talent, you will be a part of creating new technologies and concepts that can be applied across the Ford enterprise. Being on the EVDD team means building the future as Ford’s center of innovation and growth through electric and connected vehicles and services. 

 

What Will This Opportunity Do For You?  

  • You’ll grow your expertise and analytical skills through collaboration with a global, cross-functional team, ownership of a well-defined project, and exposure to new technology and tools used to improve vehicles and customer experience.
  • The Interiors Engineering team is responsible for concept development and detail design of the vehicle cabin systems through multiple stages of development. Our team works to ensure that the interior is comfortable, functional, and aesthetically pleasing while also meeting safety and regulatory requirements.

 

What Can You Expect To Do?  

 

  • Develop 3D geometry and innovative designs concepts that solve challenging crash load cases while balancing construction, material, and manufacturing methods.
  • Perform and understand tolerance analysis, Finite Element Analysis (FEA), and other simulations and analyses before releasing designs for production.
  • Develop, study, and implement novel construction techniques and materials then drive them to production feasibility
  • Hands-on prototyping, testing & troubleshooting

 

What Are We Looking For?  

  • Pursuit of a relevant Bachelor’s degree or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Mechanical Engineering or a related field
  • A GPA of 3.0 on a 4.0 scale (or equivalent)
  • Analytical and creative problem-solving skills
  • Must be able to work from the Irvine, CA campus.
  • Must be able to dedicate 6 MONTHS for this engagement
  • Candidates must graduate and be available for full-time work prior to September 2025
  • Experience using 3D CAD software collaboratively

 

Our preferred requirements 

  • Experience using 3D CAD software collaboratively
  • Understand of polymers, manufacturing processes and mechanical properties.
  • Experience using CAE software for mechanical analysis
