Molding Engineer Intern - Summer 2025

The Molding Engineer Intern works closely with experienced engineers to support the molding Factory in various molding and cost savings projects, optimize production processes, and assist in the development of new molding techniques.
Key Duties and Responsibilities
- Collaborate with senior engineers to design and implement manufacturing and molding processes, ensuring efficient production and high product quality.
- Participate in the setup, operation, and troubleshooting of molding equipment and machinery.
- Assist in conducting experiments and tests to evaluate the performance of different molding materials and techniques.
- Contribute to process improvement initiatives by identifying areas for optimization and suggesting innovative solutions.
- Support the development of tooling and molds by providing input on design, materials, and manufacturing processes.
- Monitor production processes, collect data, and analyze results to identify trends, deviations, and opportunities for enhancement.
- Help maintain accurate documentation of process parameters, materials, and experimental results.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including R&D, quality assurance, and production, to ensure seamless integration of molding processes.
- Stay up to date with industry trends and emerging technologies in molding and manufacturing.
Required Qualifications
- Must be available to work onsite out of the Utica, NY facility, Monday – Friday throughout the summer internship program (May 19 – August 8, 2025)
- Currently pursuing a degree in Mechanical Engineering, Materials Science, or related field.
- Essential Physical Requirements for the job: must be able to lift 49 pounds, sit/stand for 8 hours
Preferred Qualifications
- Technical background in Scientific Molding/decoupled molding
- Proficiency in using engineering software tools, such as CAD and simulation software, is a plus.
- Strong passion for manufacturing, molding processes, and hands-on engineering.
- Excellent problem-solving skills and analytical thinking.
- Effective communication and teamwork abilities.
- Willingness to learn, adapt, and take on new challenges.
- Self-driven and organized
This position is not eligible for employer-visa sponsorship.
Disclosure as required by applicable law, the hourly pay rate for this position is $19.75 to $32.25. The actual compensation may vary based on geographic location, work experience, education and skill level. The salary range is CONMED’s good faith belief at the time of this posting.
