Engineering Intern, 2025 - Orrville, OH & Lexington, KY

Your Opportunity as a Engineering Intern 

As an intern within our Corporate Engineering Organization, you will work on a Process Engineering Team supporting Research and Development. You will have the unique opportunity to spend part of the time in our Orrville, OH R&D offices and then the second half of your time in our Lexington, KY R&D facility. You will work on research projects that involve designing and executing experiments in the laboratory and pilot plant, develop and conduct tests to evaluate potential processing changes, or prove out new process technology for new products and equipment. You will have the chance to lead your own projects while also exposing broader company initiatives. 

 

 

Location: 3-4 months (May – August) at the Corporate Office in Orrville, OH and 3- months (September - December) at our Lexington, KY R&D Office 

 

Work Arrangements: Hybrid, 60%-100% in office expectations  

 

In this role you will:  

Partner closely with scientists, engineers, and technicians to complete multiple projects, analyze data, and present results to company leadership. 

Apply fundamental engineering principles to design and conduct experiments on pilot scale manufacturing equipment and analytical instruments. 

Interface as needed with equipment suppliers, manufacturing facilities and cross-functional business partners to achieve project goals. 

Develop foundational knowledge as an engineer in the food industry, with a focus on optimizing processes, equipment, and finished product attributes. 

 

What we are looking for:  

 

A Freshman, Sophomore or Junior standing in school with requisite educational experience in Chemical, Mechanical, or Food Engineering  

A well-rounded skill set including strong time-management, the ability to work flexible/varied hours (some overtime may be needed), comfort in working in a laboratory, pilot plant, and plant environments and the ability to commit to multiple rotations at a variety of locations (including plants) throughout your academic career
