Structural Engineer Intern
Merrick & Company is seeking a college or graduate school Structural Engineering student for a paid summer internship for Summer 2025 at our Albuquerque, NM office. Imagine working on rewarding client projects and being exposed to unparalleled training and development opportunities!
The summer internship has a commitment of approximately mid-May through mid-August 2025.
We will be accepting resumes for this opportunity from approximately September – November 2024. Resumes will be reviewed as they are received. Interviews will take place in the Fall/Winter. Offers will be extended in Winter/Spring. Timeframe subject to change.
WHAT YOU'LL DO
The Merrick Intern Program will provide an undergraduate or graduate student an opportunity to gain technical experience in the field of structural engineering. The intern will be exposed to a variety of structural engineering tasks which may include steel and concrete design, foundation design, structural drafting & detailing, gravity load analysis, and lateral load analysis of buildings and other structures.
The position requires the collaboration with other disciplines, ability to interface with clients and contractors, follow schedules and budget commitments, work independently, possess good written and oral communication skills and the ability to problem solve.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
- Must be currently enrolled and entering junior year of undergraduate degree or higher. Students enrolled in a Master’s degree program in Civil/Structural Engineering will be considered.
- Must be pursuing an engineering degree in Civil (with structural emphasis) or Structural Engineering at an ABET accredited program.
- Eligible candidate should have completed basic statics and mechanics of materials coursework.
- Client projects for this position require U.S. Citizenship.
DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS
- Basic knowledge of at least one finite element analysis software program such as RISA 3D.
- Basic knowledge of either AutoCAD or Revit.
- Completion of some introductory coursework in structural analysis and either steel or concrete design.
- Local candidates preferred.
