The State Water Resources Control Board’s Division of Water Quality is seeking a Water Resource Control Engineer with strong critical thinking skills to join a dynamic team environment in protecting water quality consistent with the State Water Board’s direction and mission. Under close supervision, the incumbent will work as part of an interdisciplinary team to implement the Recycled Water Policy in the Division of Water Quality’s Recycled Water and Desalination Unit.  The incumbent will collaborate with State and Regional Water Board staff to advance the production and use of alternative water supplies consistent with Governor Newsom’s August 2022 , such as recycled water and desalination, through developing tools to streamline recycled water permitting and modernizing program data systems and operations to address program needs.

Duties:

The incumbent conducts independent engineering and technical work to develop and implement the Water Quality Control Policy for Recycled Water (Recycled Water Policy). The incumbent will travel to attend meetings, trainings, conferences, or other program-related events (e.g., public outreach), including occasional overnight travel.

Salary information – CalHR salary rules allow appointment at the entrance rate (Cal. Code Regs., tit. 2, § 599.673) of a classification. For classes with alternate ranges, placement is based on education/experience.
