The State Water Resources Control Board’s Division of Drinking Water has an opening for a Water Resources Control Engineer in the Resiliency and Data Branch. The position will be located at one of the following Division of Drinking Water’s field offices:

  • Sacramento – 1001 I Street, 17th Floor, Sacramento, CA 95814.
  • Santa Rosa – 50 D Street, Suite 200, Santa Rosa, CA 95404.
  • Richmond – 850 Marina Bay Parkway, Building P, 2nd Floor, Richmond, CA 94804.
  • Lodi – 3021 Reynolds Ranch Parkway, Suite 260, Lodi, CA 95240.

Duties:

Under the close supervision of the Senior Water Resource Control Engineer, the incumbent will be responsible for developing procedures, documents, databases and spreadsheets for entering, maintaining and extracting Public Water System (PWS) inventory and compliance tracking information from the Safe Drinking Water Information System (SDWIS) database system. The incumbent will develop reports for various stakeholders, including the United States Environmental Protection Agency (USEPA). The position involves extensive work using computer database programs and developing queries and special reports using various database and spreadsheet programs, including Microsoft Excel, Microsoft Access, SQL, Snowflake, and PowerBI. Incumbent requires knowledge of public water system infrastructure (e.g., drinking water sources, treatment plants and processes, and storage systems), drinking water regulations and compliance determinations as well as knowledge of database structures and functions. Salary information – CalHR salary rules allow appointment at the entrance rate (Cal. Code Regs., tit. 2, § 599.673) of a classification. For classes with alternate ranges, placement is based on education/experience.
