Job Description:  

This is a technical services work in performing difficult and moderately complex engineering duties in a variety of field and office engineering specialties. 

Responsibilities may include, but are not limited to:

• Serving as an onsite representative for MaineDOT on active construction projects,
• Inspecting and documenting Contractor’s work on complex construction activities and projects in order to ensure work conforms to plans and specifications,
• Assisting resident engineers, resident inspectors and project managers in order to problem solve design and construction issues and manage complex construction projects,
• Estimating, measuring, and reviewing quantities for complex projects using appropriate tools such as scales, planimeters, calculators, and computer software in order to document and compute quantities for payment to the contractor.
• Winter duties may include estimating quantities and preparing contract packages for moderately complex construction projects.

Supervision is exercised over subordinate technical personnel performing moderately complex tasks. 

To be minimally qualified for this position candidates must provide evidence of the following experience:

Five (5) years of experience in engineering –OR- an Associate Degree in Engineering or a related technical field and three (3) years of experience in engineering -OR- a Bachelors Degree in Engineering or a related technical field and one (1) year of experience in engineering.
