Please note: this position is paid on an hourly basis and limited to 1500 hours per calendar year.  The salary range for Scientific Aid is $17.21 - $20.43 per hour.

The Central Coast Regional Water Quality Control Board has an opening for a Scientific Aid. The position is located at 895 Aerovista Place, Suite 101, in San Luis Obispo.

Duties:
Under the direct supervision of a Supervisory Engineering Geologist, the Scientific Aid will work closely with technical staff in the office to enter and review data and other information in Water Board electronic tracking and filing systems; develop spreadsheets or tables to present data; develop maps and graphical material; assist staff in collecting, analyzing, and presenting field data; conduct desktop research and field investigations; review and prepare technical documents; and other assignments in support of the activities undertaken by the Central Coast Regional Water Quality Control Board. This is a unique opportunity to gain a broad range of experience in protecting water quality. The position offers flexible work hours and is part-time during the school year (approximately 10 hours a week) and up to full-time during school breaks.

Salary information – CalHR salary rules allow appointment at the entrance rate (Cal. Code Regs., tit. 2, § 599.673) of a classification. For classes with alternate ranges, placement is based on education/experience.
