Job Description

  • Develop concepts and ideas for new products or methods to improve existing products.
  • Develop mechanical designs for new and existing products by applying engineering principles in accordance with business needs and the product road map.
  • Develop product requirements with other functional groups (marketing, customer service, engineering etc.) to evaluate designs that meet customer needs.
  • Design mechanisms and components in support of new products
  • Perform FEA and hand calculations to ensure a design meets critical safety factors and meets customer requirements and project schedules.
  • Specify materials and components in designs
  • Manage multiple design projects at once. Work alongside an engineering mentor. Keep management informed and apprised of design progress. 
  • Present and participate in concept and design reviews and update designs as required.
  • Develop schedules for product development and testing
  • Perform testing of designs to prove functionality and reliability.
  • Evaluate product test results and make recommendations for improvements.
  • Keep apprised of the customer experience related to company products.
  • Work with design and/or manufacturing partners to ensure manufacturability and quality control leading up to production.
  • Generate drawings and design specifications for new products.

Qualifications

  • Junior or Senior in the Mechanical Engineering 

Knowledge, Skills and Responsibilities

  • Experience designing consumer based products or similar
  • Must be proficient in the CAD, specifically the use of OnShape, but Solidworks candidates will be considered
  • Interest in and an aptitude for robotics, mechatronics, mechanism design, etc.
  • Familiar with sheet metal design and welding fabrication processes
  • Familiar with rapid prototype techniques and processes
  • Familiarity with GD&T techniques and tolerance stack ups
  • Effective communicator.
  • Ability to work independently and pick up new skills quickly with a mentor
