Purpose of the Job:

The Reporting and Data Analyst is responsible for ensuring that data models used throughout the organization conform to standards, are well documented, and are utilized optimally to support business operations at the MSRB. This position will partner with business managers from across the organization and guide development of a wide range of reports. The ideal candidate will have strong SQL skills and previous experience developing reports with a variety of reporting tool sets.

Responsibilities:

  • Gain and continuously maintain a thorough knowledge of business processes at MSRB and how data is collected and stored.
  • Manage, coordinate, and support all activities related to the production and dissemination of standard and ad hoc management reports.
  • Partner with MSRB managers to gather requirements for new reports.
  • Manage the vendors responsible for maintaining MSRB’s line-of-business applications in all matters pertaining to report development.
  • Oversee the development of data models, data interfaces, and information flows to ensure that MSRB’s operational goals are supported.
  • Develop and test reports from requirements.
  • Perform ad hoc data analysis and report development when needed to support urgent business needs.
  • Prepare and maintain supporting documentation for data models and reports.
  • Understand and document the interfaces and flow of data between systems.
  • Identify and assist with resolving data discrepancies caused by system errors and errors and inconsistencies with feeder systems.
  • Identify opportunities for data efficiency and continuous improvement.

Knowledge and Skills:

  • 4-year degree in Computer Science\Data Analytics\Math or related field preferred
  • 5+ years of experience in data analytics, modeling, and reporting.
  • Strong SQL Skills, including proficiency with techniques for nesting queries, transforming datatypes, and performing aggregates and grouping.
  • Experience with data modeling in SQL Server and writing reports in SQL Server Reporting Services, Tableau, or Salesforce is a plus.
  • Public pension or defined retirement benefit system experience is a plus.
  • Strong teamwork and interpersonal skills at all management levels.
  • Must possess strong communication, problem-solving and time management skills.
  • Ability to work regularly on-site and remotely according to schedule approved by MSRB.
  • Microsoft Office proficiency.
