The Santa Ana Regional Water Quality Control Board has an opening for a Water Resource Control Engineer (WRCE) to join the Wastewater Section. The position is located at 3737 Main Street, Suite 500, Riverside - right in the heart of downtown, just across the street from the Fox Performing Arts Center, and a few blocks from the Metrolink station.

Duties:

The WRCE is responsible for overseeing compliance of dischargers with individual or General Waste Discharge Requirements (WRDs) orders, National Pollutant Discharge Elimination System (NPDES) permits, and/or Master Recycling Permits (MRP) and follow-up with enforcement measures as applicable.

Also, a WRCE is responsible for reviewing Reports of Waste Discharge (ROWD) and other permit application materials and develop WDRs orders, NPDES permits, and/or MRPs and prepare the draft orders/permits for adoption by the Water Board.

Furthermore, a WRCE must be able to make effective presentations to the Water Board regarding orders/permits to be proposed for adoption and participate in Water Board hearings as needed. The WRCE is required to work independently, communicate effectively, manage multiple tasks and become proficient in its assigned duties. Daily proficient utilization of office equipment and the Microsoft Office Suite is required.

Salary information – CalHR salary rules allow appointment at the entrance rate (Cal. Code Regs., tit. 2, § 599.673) of a classification. For classes with alternate ranges, placement is based on education/experience.
