Process Control Engineer - Shell Graduate Program 2024 

The Process Control Domain Expert also works directly with Shell APC implementers in a consultancy role to help them successfully implement PACE, to understand the customers. concerns and opportunities for improvement in PACE.

The responsibility of the Process Control Engineer will be:

  • Conduct research into new areas, such as model diagnosis, robust control, and non-linear control, to be incorporated into PACE.
  • Prototyping and testing these next generation features.
  • Embedding these features into the PACE product.
  • Submit plans and report progress to the various sponsors.
  • Inputting into the development of the yearly R&D plan including gathering input from the Shell users, Yokogawa (development partner), other R&D staff and academic world
  • Consulting with personnel implementing PACE to resolve any issues.
  • Investigating reliability concerns and implementing bug fixes as required
  • Obtaining customer feedback on what features would be valuable in future releases. of PACE
  • Strategic implementations of PACE at sites

Productization of the software will be ensured by the Technology IT organization and is not part of the scope of the position, but the Domain Expert is expected to work closely with IT staff to ensure production of high-quality APC software.

Skills & Requirements

What we need from you -

  • PhD degree in Mathematics, Control or Systems Engineering, or Chemical Engineering with an emphasis on Process Control
  • Experience with Research and Development of Advanced Process Control software
  • Sound background in the fields of process technology, process dynamics, mathematics, simulation, and technical computing.
  • Demonstrated passion and interest for the subject matter.
  • Recognized professional characteristics of being self-driven, proactive, flexible, disciplined, detail oriented and customer focused.
  • Strong collaboration and team working skills.

You are required to have graduated prior to your first day at Shell.   
To be eligible for the Shell Graduate Program, you should be in your final year of study or have less than three years of relevant work experience.
You must have a minimum Cumulative GPA (CGPA) of 3.20
Candidates for regular U.S. positions must be a U.S. citizen or national, an alien admitted as permanent resident, refugee, asylee, temporary resident, or an individual who possesses valid work authorization. Individuals with temporary visas (H-1, H-2, J-1, F-1, etc.) or who require sponsorship for work authorization now or in the future are not eligible for hire.
In some instances, we are able to provide work authorization sponsorship for PhD and Master’s candidates in certain disciplines.

The salary range for positions included in this posting is $63,000 - $138,000.

For regular full-time or regular part-time employees of the Company (participating companies as listed in the Summary Plan Description), insurance coverage options include medical, dental, vision coverage, life Insurance, Business Travel Accident Insurance, and Occupational Accidental Death Benefit programs. Employees also participate in a company pension plan and a 401(k) plan. Paid leave includes up to 6 weeks of paid vacation time, up to 11 paid holidays, and parental leave offering 16 weeks of paid leave to birthing mothers, and 8 weeks of paid leave for non-birthing parents. Additionally, employees are eligible for disability leave for up to 52 weeks at 100% or 50% of base pay. Shell also offers other compensation such financial reimbursement for adoption, wellness, education, and personal learning expenses, and some roles are eligible for discretionary long-term incentives. For interns, eligible benefits include medical, dental, and vision coverage, life insurance, Business Travel Accident Insurance, and Occupational Accidental Death Benefit programs; participation in a 401(k) plan; and paid leave for up to 11 paid holidays.
