Description:

Baxter offers a robust summer internship program based in the Chicagoland area that provides meaningful work assignments and projects that immerse students in Baxter’s culture designed to provide practical work experience highlighting what an individual would do in a similar full-time role with the ability to make a business impact.  You'll be paired with a mentor, receive support from your manager, and have access to the entire Baxter employee community to ensure your success. 

 

Baxter’s Advanced surgery team provides lifesaving products focused on wound hemostasis and sealing as well as other specialty surgical procedures. We are creating innovative cloud-based software solutions for our internal and external stakeholders. This internship will be specifically designed to leverage creative thinking for designing automated tools to improve business processes around information management. 

 

Responsibilities:

  • Work collaboratively with business stakeholders to understand their needs and processes.
  • Develop proof-of-concept projects to demonstrate the potential of AI, natural language processing, and cloud automation solutions.
  • Demonstrate and communicate workflow solutions to broader team.

 

Requirements:

Baxter is targeting students with proven academic performance and leadership potential.  Ideal candidates will combine technical and business knowledge with analytical strength and creative problem-solving abilities. 

 

  • Pursuing a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Engineering, , Computer Science, Math, Physics or related degree. 
  • GPA of 3.0 or above
  • Programming skills in languages such as Python, MATLAB, or C++
  • Experience with machine learning, natural language processing, or other AI technologies.
  • Knowledge of data analytics and visualization tools
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills 
  • Demonstrated leadership qualities and problem-solving skills 
  • Positive attitude, team-oriented, adaptive to change, and collaborative
  • Actively involved in campus or community activities and organizations, preferably in leadership roles
