Field Engineer (Fall24 Co-Op/Intern)

PROGRAM OVERVIEW

 

The Co-Op and Internship Program is designed to recruit and develop students and recent college graduates with a bachelor’s or master’s degree in civil, mechanical, chemical, ceramic, industrial engineering or construction management. The program prepares the participant for a full-time Field Engineer, Project Engineer, or Construction Manager role after a rotation on projects, with continuing development at a regional level to prepare successful employees for a Project Manager role.

 

TOOLS FOR SUCCESS

 

  • At least 2 years of coursework completed (2 semesters discipline specific)
  • Experience with Microsoft Office programs, especially Excel
  • Strong work ethic allowing for long hours at industrial construction sites and/or fireproofing shop
  • Interpersonal skills necessary to operate as a member of a high performing team
  • Self-regulated time management and task completion
  • Reliable transportation to get you to/from jobsites
  • Candidates must be willing to work in the assigned Regional Office and travel to projects/job sites as needed.

 

HOURS

 

Standard hours are 8am – 5pm while working out of the regional office. However, each individual project will have varying hours determined by the manager. Projects often require working long hours and weekends. JTTHORPE ensures appropriate compensation for the additional effort.

 

COMPENSATION

 

  • Competitive pay based on experience and number of terms with JT THORPE, ranging from $22-30/hour
  • Overtime pay opportunities
  • Travel pay and per diem (for eligible jobsites)

 

ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS

 

  • Must be able to climb scaffold, wear proper safety protection, and work at heights of 200ft+
  • Must be able to pass drug/background requirements for access to customer site(s)
  • Co-ops willing to work two co-op rotations preferred
