Lab Assistant I - Droujinine Lab

JOB SUMMARY: The lab of Ilia Droujinine is seeking a part-time Lab Assistant. Our focus is on developing innovative methods to identify and characterize secreted factors that regulate organ and organism functions in both health and disease, particularly in mice (https://www.nature.com/articles/s41467-021-22599-x). Responsibilities may include techniques such as quantitative PCR genotyping, TMT mass spectrometry, metabolomics, western blotting, DNA cloning, immunostaining, confocal microscopy, high-throughput screens, and bioinformatic data analysis. This position will be able to work up to 80 hours per week during the summer months for a maximum of 90 calendar days.

POSITION TITLE:  Lab Assistant I

RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES:

  • General lab support, encompassing basic biochemical analyses, plasmid, tissue, or gel preparation, and spectrometry.
  • Glassware washing, autoclaving, and preparation of media, solutions, and buffers.
  • Conducting techniques such as quantitative PCR genotyping, TMT mass spectrometry, metabolomics, western blotting, DNA cloning, immunostaining, confocal microscopy, high-throughput screens, and bioinformatic data analysis.
  • Replenishing supplies and performing other related duties, tasks, and responsibilities as required or assigned.

REQUIREMENTS:

  • Requires a high school diploma or an equivalent combination of education, training and/or experience from which comparable knowledge, skill and abilities have been attained and a minimum of 1+ years of related experience. 
  • or Associate degree, (scientific discipline) and (0-1 year), previous related experience required.
  • Basic biologic techniques, mammalian cell culture or mouse experience preferred.

COMPENSATION:

The expected hiring range for this position is $16.85 to $19 per hour, commensurate with experience. Consideration will be given to experience that exceeds the listed requirements.
