The Miller lab seeks to understand the mechanisms underpinning neurodegenerative diseases, using a combination of neuropathological, single-cell, genomics, and biochemical approaches. One major scientific focus is on the causes and impact of somatic mutations in brain cells in neurodegeneration.

We are looking for promising students who might be interested in joining the Miller lab here in Boston as a research assistant, before going on to a PhD, MD, or MD-PhD program. Lab members will have the opportunity to learn disease biology with lab members, Dr. Miller, and other physician and scientist collaborators.

Interested students can find more information on our website: www.mbmillerlab.org, and can get a flavor of our research from recent papers such as this: https://pubmed.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/35444284/.

The Miller lab is located on the Harvard Medical School Longwood Campus. We are based in the Brigham and Women's Hospital Department of Pathology and are affiliated with the Brigham and Women's Hospital Department of Neurology, Boston Children's Hospital Division of Genetics and Genomics, and the Broad Institute.

Successful candidates will typically have a minimum GPA 3.6, with significant coursework in biology and chemistry, including organic chemistry. This position requires a 2-year commitment. This position is focused on experimental laboratory research, with some opportunities for data analysis.

Please include your current college transcript and a cover letter (describing your previous research and lab experience, technical and administrative skills, your career goals, and what about our lab interests you).
