The State Water Resources Control Board (State Water Board) Division of Financial Assistance has an opening for a permanent full-time Water Resources Control Engineer in the Review Summary Report (RSR) Unit within the Underground Storage Tank (UST) Cleanup Fund.  You will be part of a technical team that works with Regional Boards, Local Oversight Programs, grant recipients, consultants, and the public to advance leaking UST regulatory cases to site closure under the Low Threat UST Case Closure Policy. The work involves technical evaluation of site activities, multi-agency collaboration, and grant management for a portfolio of UST projects. Job duties require strong critical thinking and project management skills; expertise in UST assessment and remediation; and the ability to review and interpret data, technical reports, feasibility studies and action plans.

The position is with the State Water Resources Control Board’s Division of Financial Assistance in the Underground Storage Tank (UST) Cleanup Fund Branch. The office is located at 801 K Street 8th Floor, Sacramento CA 95814.

Duties:

The Water Resource Control Engineer works independently in a fast-paced, production, and cooperative environment performing analysis and review of complex technical documents and information related to planning, management, and implementation of water quality protection and contaminated site cleanup projects. The incumbent is responsible for providing timely and professional assistance to the public, stakeholders, internal staff, and external agencies by various methods of communication.

Salary information – CalHR salary rules allow appointment at the entrance rate (Cal. Code Regs., tit. 2, § 599.673) of a classification. For classes with alternate ranges, placement is based on education/experience.
