Scientific Procurement Engineer

Excet, A Precise Systems Company,  seeks candidates with an engineering/science background to provide client support on technical supply chain projects and process day-to-day procurements supporting Excet contracts with U.S. Navy.

This position is based out of our corporate office in Springfield, VA, with requirements to visit multiple local customer sites in VA, MD, and DC.

Duties:

  • Collaborate with Excet’s management, engineers, and scientists to support a high volume of customer needs
  • Review and process technical and non-technical vendor quotations and competitive market solicitations
  • Negotiate payment terms
  • Perform order entry of different types of purchase requests
  • Expedite deliveries, tracking, receiving, and resolving invoice and shipment issues when they occur
  • Attend technical review meetings and serve as the primary point of contact for procurement actions
  • Personally follow up on deliveries to assure items get where they need to go
  • Provide office management support as needed or other tasks in support of contract operations

Required Education:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Science or equivalent.

Required Experience: 

  • 2 years' experience of relevant work experience, particularly in the area of DoD engineering or programmatic support
  • Experience and interest in technical & industrial purchasing and supply chain management.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a DOD security clearance at the secret level.
  • Frequent interaction with technical engineering and science subject matter experts of various disciplines.
  • Participation in reviews of blueprint design, industrial specifications, engineering, and industrial processes.
  • Frequent onsite visits to client site.
  • Computer literacy, including proficiency with Microsoft Office products and manipulating PDF files.
  • Advanced skill level and experience with Microsoft Excel is a plus.
  • Learn and use in-house purchasing & information management system.
  • Good written, listening, and verbal communication skills.
  • Good organization skills. The ability to work independently at times.

 Preferred Experience:

  • BS in Engineering – mechanical, materials science, chemical, electrical, metallurgical, corrosion or related. BS Chemistry. Electrochemistry background desired.
  • Experience with CPFF contracts.
  • Experience with FFP and FFP-LOE purchase orders.
  • Related military experience.
  • Experience in U.S. Navy corrosion control maintenance and engineering.
  • Experience with Navy corrosion control and maintenance databases, technical publications, procedures, requirements and/or U.S. Navy integrated logistics support

Must be able to obtain and maintain a Secret security clearance. Due to the sensitivity of customer-related requirements, U.S. Citizenship is required.
