Position Overview: As an Entry-Level Virus Production Lead Technician, you'll play a crucial role in the growth and cultivation of cells and virus cultures essential for vaccine manufacturing. Under the guidance of our experienced Virus Production Manager, you'll perform a variety of laboratory procedures in compliance with strict regulatory standards, ensuring the safety and efficacy of our vaccine products.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Cultivate cells and virus cultures according to Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) in a sterile laboratory environment.
  • Prepare media and reagents for cell and virus growth using precise measurements and calibrated equipment.
  • Conduct cell passages and perform daily cell counts to ensure optimal cell growth for virus production.
  • Assist in virus antigen production, including inoculation, harvest, and inactivation processes.
  • Maintain accurate records and documentation, including batch records, inventory logs, and environmental monitoring reports.
  • Perform routine laboratory maintenance and cleaning tasks to uphold cleanliness and safety standards.
  • Assist in the development of SOPs and provide training to new laboratory personnel.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to identify process improvements and enhance efficiency and safety practices.

Key Competencies & Requirements:

  • Education: Bachelor's degree in a scientific discipline preferred. Associate degree with relevant experience will also be considered.
  • Experience: Previous experience in a scientific field is preferred but not required.
  • Reasoning Ability: Ability to follow instructions and solve practical problems effectively.
  • Skills: Proficient in written and verbal communication in English. Basic math skills required. Familiarity with Microsoft Excel and scientific notation preferred.
  • Physical Demands: Ability to stand, bend, and lift objects weighing up to 30 lbs. Good eyesight and hand-eye coordination required for precise measurements and manipulation of laboratory equipment.
  • Work Environment: Work in an aseptic area wearing sterile apparel such as TyVek suits and respirators as needed.
