Intern - Manufacturing Operations

Position Overview

Assists Operations Manager and Lean Process Managers with projects, process improvements, and operations administration.

Essential Functions

Function:  Lean/Continuous Improvement Projects

• Time study existing processes and make recommendations to update our current systems to new time standards.
• Implement improvement ideas generated by process improvement system.
• Work with Plant Technicians to get feedback on process improvements.
• Assist manufacturing engineers with improvement of current processes including plant layout changes.
• Communicate with internal and external customers regarding project status.

Function: Operations Support

• Engage in safety audits and incident investigations.
• Perform safety observations.
• Assist with investigating quality issues.
• Attend some management meetings.

Qualifications

Education

• Must be a current Junior or Senior student working towards a Bachelor’s degree with engineering, operations, supply chain or business focus.

Experience

• Previous manufacturing experience strongly preferred.

Knowledge/Skills/Abilities

• Proficient in the Microsoft Office Suite (Outlook, Word, Excel, Teams, PowerPoint a benefit).
• Blueprint reading.
• Mechanical aptitude.
• Willingness to do hands on work.
• Ability to multi-task and work independently.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills.
• Detail orientated with the ability to follow multiple projects through to completion.
