ARS SEA Athens SEPRL Director Maintenance Mechanic Intern (Athens, GA) Summer 2024

USDA Agricultural Research Service is currently recruiting for an Maintenance Mechanic Intern at U.S. National Poultry Research Center : USDA ARS in Athens, GA for Summer 2024. This will be an intern type position where you will be working in an apprentice/ helper role.  Install, repair, and maintain machinery and equipment. Perform mechanical troubleshooting and preventative maintenance on equipment to reduce the risk of future problems. Fixing machinery, plumbing, heating, and wiring, inspecting buildings to confirm safety standards, and scheduling major repairs with customers. Document temperature information on boilers and other temperature control systems to ensure safety and identify discrepancies that could indicate a machinery problem. Maintaining the building HVAC equipment in order to keep climate control in the facility functioning properly.  Performing general maintenance work on buildings as assigned. Logging performed maintenance work in a timely manner through paper documentation and electronically. Communicate findings of building equipment in critical condition with management. Fixing and reporting potential safety hazards to avoid injuries.
