Staff Research Associate I

The Erle lab at UCSF is seeking a Staff Research Associate I (SRA) who is interested in studying airway epithelial cell biology and its relevance to various diseases. The SRA will join a team of scientists conducting experiments central to the lab’s research efforts in investigating airway epithelial cell and molecular biology.

This individual will contribute to research projects by generating datasets and testing hypotheses using methods established in the lab including primary human cell culture, flow cytometry, gene targeting using CRISPR-Cas9 and gene expression analysis. The position will work closely with other experienced lab members, develop additional research skills, and contribute to development of new research directions in the lab.  Training will be provided in cell culture work or other duties as needed.

Required Qualifications:

  • BA/BS in a related science and knowledge of, or experience with, the basic techniques or methods required by the position; and or an equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Some laboratory experience
  • Experience with nucleic acid isolation and quantification (may be that which is acquired while in school)
  • Completed college-level coursework in biology, biochemistry, physics, microbiology/immunology
  • Has formulated and performed at least one independent research project (e.g., as a college-level independent study project)
