Manufacturing/Automation Engineer

Founded in 1990 and located in the heart of the Rocky Mountains in Ronan, Montana, Rocky Mountain Twist is the leading US manufacturer and provider of innovative, high quality power tool accessories to the retail market and engineered drilling solutions to the industrial marketplace.

We are currently seeking a highly motivated, detail oriented, innovative individual to join our Engineering Department as a Manufacturing/Automation Engineer. Our goal is to automate new equipment and manufacturing processes to improve productivity and quality, decrease labor demands, and reduce costs. We are a vertically integrated in-house manufacturer offering experience in multiple manufacturing disciplines including grinding, machining, molding, assembly, packaging, testing, material selections and coatings. This is a fulltime benefit eligible position.

Manufacturing/Automation Engineer Job Summary:

Support the manufacture of new product designs with product specific automation designs. Validate through prototyping and detailed drawings. Improve existing manufacturing, assembly, and packaging operations through implementation of automation or fixturing. Trouble shoot and improve existing automation.

Manufacturing/Automation Engineer Skills:

Experience with design/drafting equipment and software. Preferably SolidWorks

Working knowledge of PLC programing and troubleshooting

Experience with Rockwell Automation MicroLogix 500 and 5000

Working knowledge of: actuators, slides, stepper motors, electric and pneumatic components

Controls hardware design and configuration experience

Product/process development and implementation with automation

Manufacturing methods for metals (grinding, machining, and turning)

Knowledge of robotics (Fanuc or others)

Development of new or modified components, products, manufacturing processes and equipment

Provide training and support as new automation and systems are implemented

Collaborate with team members on system design

Must work well in a results-driven team environment

Manufacturing/Automation Engineer Education & Experience:

ABET accredited bachelor’s degree (B.S.) from four-year college or university (Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or Manufacturing Engineering Technology), or an Associate's Degree (A.S.) and 2 years related experience and/or training, or equivalent combination of education and experience. Minor in automation or Mechatronics is a plus.
