Structural Engineering Lead
Structural Engineer Lead:
Gilson Engineering and Surveying has an immediate opening for an experienced, highly motivated Structural Engineering Project Manager to lead the Structural Engineering Department in our Draper, Utah office.
Job Description: Manage the Structural Engineering Department at Gilson Engineering. Provide structural engineering design calculations on residential and commercial projects of varying size. Lead and grow the Structural Engineering Team at Gilson Engineering.
Essential Duties Include:
- Manage Structural Engineering team, including but not limited to staffing, marketing, schedules, contract administration and budgets.
- Perform structural design and analysis calculations using governing codes and standards, engineering formulas, skills, and experience.
- Apply extensive and diverse knowledge of principles and practices for a wide range of construction techniques.
- Work closely with CAD staff to provide clear and accurate construction documents.
- Draft sketches, contract documents, and specifications.
- Provide project management on small and large projects.
- Review project documents for conformity and quality assurance.
- Develop probable construction cost estimates for projects.
- Observe construction and coordinate with contractors.
- Conduct field inspections and condition assessments and prepare reports.

Minimum Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree in Civil or Structural Engineering
- 5 - 10 years of relevant structural experience (residential and commercial)
- PE Registration Required, SE Registration Preferred
- Must have a valid driver’s license
- Proficient in Microsoft word, PowerPoint, Excel, and Outlook Software
- Excellent oral and organizational skills.
- Good proofreading and editing skills; Effective written and verbal communication skills in English.
Preference may be shown to candidates who have the following skills or experience:
- Proficiency with AutoCAD A Plus
- Previous team or project management experience
