Coalmont Engineering is seeking Junior/Senior Mechanical Engineering students for an Internship Mechanical Engineer role at our McCalla, Alabama facility.

JOB DESCRIPTION:

The Mechanical Engineering Intern will be exposed to a broad range of engineering topics that will expand to meet the skills and strengths of the Intern, while providing learning opportunities of theory and industry best practices to improve on the existing institutional instruction. The Intern-Engineer must be able to clearly communicate technical topics to management with leadership and integrity. The Intern-Engineer must be a self-starter, detail oriented and driven to manage personal and professional schedules to meet deadlines without sacrificing required quality. This is a developmental position with a fast-paced Electrical and Mechanical Engineering company that has limitless opportunities to learn in an apprentice type environment.

Initial responsibilities could include electro-mechanical system and component design in SolidWorks or Autodesk Inventor/3D. New automation systems, metal-enclosed electrical structures, and general manufacturing process modifications involving conceptualization, design, specification, assembly, and field commissioning. Design duties will include the detailing of components and assemblies, including machining tolerances, generating clear and concise 2D/3D shop drawings for manufacturing, and building a working relationship with the fabrication shop team to ensure designs are completed correctly and on time. Assembly and Field Commissioning duties will include the direct oversight and management of project quality, timeliness, and budgets. Fabrication Shop support may include operating and maintaining existing equipment such as the laser and plasma tables, lathe, CNC machine, press brake, shear, welders, and EDM machine.

Education, experience, and skills required for the position:

· Pursuing Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering from an ABET accredited program.

· Proven leadership abilities

· Excellent communication skills

· Self Starter motivated to gain real world experience

· The ability to get involved with the team and to search out opportunities to contribute without specific instruction.

· A fundamental understanding that experience and knowledge come through actions, struggle and self-imposed goals that push oneself to be better and therefore more valuable.

Education and experience preferred for the position:

SolidWorks, AutoCAD or other CAD Software, Programming, MS Office Products (Excel, Word)
