Maintenance Associate

JOB SUMMARY: The Maintenance Associate role operates under the broad supervision of the Facilities/Maintenance Manager, tasked with operating general plant equipment. Ensuring that both equipment and facilities are functioning correctly to meet production requirements is a key responsibility of this position. It necessitates the capacity to multitask and perform efficiently, whether working independently or collaboratively within a team. Additionally, there may be a requirement for the Maintenance Associate to offer weekend (Friday to Sunday) on-call service to the facility, alternating every 4-5 weeks.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: 

Facility/Maintenance/Repair: 

  • Repair lighting systems that may include changing bulbs, ballasts, and light fixtures
  • Maintain air handling units that may include changing filters, lubricating bearings, changing drive belts and sheaves
  • Complete daily equipment rounds/logsheets to ensure plant equipment is operating properly
  • Maintain facility and grounds including:
    • general yard work
    • snow removal
    • painting
    • minor building repairs

Equipment Operation:

  • Operate general plant equipment to include, but not limited to; skid-loader, snow thrower, fork truck, chain saw, weed trimmer and leaf blower
  • Operate basic on/off use of central plant equipment to include, but not limited to, chillers, air compressors, circulation pumps, sign engraving machine and scissor lift

Parts Ordering/Inventory: 

  • Procure components to replenish the maintenance shop inventory, encompassing the acquisition of hardware, plumbing materials, air filters, electrical supplies, bearings, belts, and painting supplies
  • Retrieve parts from nearby suppliers to facilitate swift delivery as required
  • Manage the inventory of essential repair components, potentially encompassing seals, gaskets, rupture disks, motors, lamps, O-rings, and filter

Other duties as assigned: 5% of position responsibility

EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE: 

  • High school diploma or equivalent

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:

  • Strong communication abilities, adept at comprehending both verbal and written instructions
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite at an intermediate level
  • Possess fundamental knowledge of tools and their functionality
  • Demonstrate consistent diligence in tasks
  • Skilled in working independently as well as in a team environment
