We are looking for a Development Intern to start in June 2024 and continue through at least December 2024 or the end of the school year. The Development Intern contributes to the vitality of the Santa Barbara Education Foundation by assisting the Development Associate with donor tracking and communications.

Preferred skills:
• Strong writing skills
• Attention to detail
• A friendly but professional demeanor
• Reliable transportation and proof of vaccination are required.

The internship pay is $16.00 per hour and requires 6-10 hours of availability per week. Our office is only open on weekdays from 9-5pm. The position is eligible for school credit if the student is in a program that merits it. A letter of reference may also be offered to interns that demonstrate exceptional work.

Responsibilities may include:
• Prepare mailing materials such as invitations, solicitations, and newsletters
• Assist with coordination for fundraiser and donor cultivation events
• Assist in the composition of fundraising letters with SBEF materials
• Assist in the composition of thank you letters to donors
• Maintain financial files
• Maintain donor database
• Dropping off/picking up musical instruments at schools and repair shop
• Processing instrument donations 
• Assist with tracking and reimbursing teachers for our Teacher Grants Program

 

The Santa Barbara Education Foundation funds initiatives and programs that promote equity for the approximately 14,000 students in the Santa Barbara Unified School District. Our three funding priorities include literacy, teacher grants, and summer enrichment programs.
