Construction Intern (Transportation-Highways/Bridges)
AECOM is seeking a Construction Intern to be based in Murray, Utah.
This position is expected to begin in May 2024.
The responsibilities of this position include, but are not limited to:
- Performs a variety of assignments designed to develop professional work knowledge and abilities, requiring the application of standard techniques, procedures, and criteria in carrying out tasks.
- Follows instructions to accomplish tasks assigned by senior staff.
- Reading and interpreting plans and specifications.
- Collects samples, performs inspections and tests materials in the field on active construction projects.
- Measure and report quantities placed by the contractor in the field.
- Meets required schedules while producing quality work.
Qualifications
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:
- Candidates must be currently enrolled in a university program pursuing a Bachelor’s Degree in Construction or Civil Engineering, with the intent to continue after the internship, unless graduating.
- Candidates must have completed at least 1 year of study in their program.
- Valid U.S. Driver’s License is required to regularly drive AECOM vehicles to project sites.
- As a condition of employment, selected candidate must pass a Motor Vehicle Records review.
- Frequent lifting, carrying, and loading of construction field equipment, such as nuclear density gauges, 5 gallon buckets (filled with soil samples), and wheelbarrows with concrete, of up to 50 pounds unassisted.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite, including Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
- Basic knowledge of industry-standard computer software for the position (examples include software such as CADD, HCS, AutoCAD, MicroStation, and GIS).

- Candidate will be provided training for concrete testing, materials sampling, and density testing and will be expected to gain certification for these testing processes.
- Offered rate of compensation (Utah locations only) will be based on individual education, qualifications, experience, and work location. The hourly range for this position is $20.19- $25.69/hr.
