Summer Middle School Teaching Fellow

Boys Hope Girls Hope of Northeastern Ohio (BHGH) is currently seeking enthusiastic, engaging and energetic college students or entry-level educators to work with middle school students during our Academy Summer Program. This is an especially valuable development opportunity for students who are planning careers in education, youth development, psychology, nonprofit organizations, or social services. This opportunity requires a full-time commitment of seven (7) weeks and includes a $2500 stipend for the summer program.

Schedule

Middle school programming will take place across seven (7) weeks starting the week of June 3rd for training.

  • 6th-8th Grade Programming, June 10th-July 19th
  • Working hours are from 7AM-4:45PM, Monday-Thursday with varyingshifts between those times
  • Friday hours for all teachingfellows: 8:30-11:30AM for staff development and planning
  • No programming on June 19th, July 4th, and July 5th (Staff do not reportthese days)
  • Friday, July 19th: CedarPoint field trip, work day from 7:30AM-7:00PM
  • Monday, July 22nd: Reportfor summer clean up and staff close out from 8AM-12PM

Responsibilities

  • Provide transportation support (chaperone/supervision) on BHGH transportation routes, additional stipend available for driving
  • Assist instructional staff in classroomset up, preparation, and clean up
  • Assist instructional staff in dailylesson delivery and classroom management
  • Buildpositive and supportive relationships with middle school Scholars;provide feedback and report behavior concerns as needed

  • Commitment to collaborate and develop appropriate relationships with youth and their families with a deep understanding of the communities we serve
  • Commitment to DEIB practicesand asset-based approaches to working with youth
  • Commitment to a growth mindset and becoming a life-long learnerfor self and others
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • If driving, must have valid driver’s license with no more than two moving violations
