Software Engineering Intern

The Software Engineering Summer Intern program with Hobart Weigh Wrap is designed to give students the hands-on exposure to daily engineering operations, projects and research that impacts new product development, manufacturing and design. Weigh Wrap is looking for a self-directed, results-oriented and customer-focused individual to help develop new software solutions including features and test programs for Hobart products. This student will work alongside our software engineering team on projects supporting business plans through the summer and present their accomplishments to the team at the close of the internship. This internship is a part of the ITW Enterprise Internship Program and applicants should have a strong desire to seek employment with ITW post-graduation. This position is in Troy, Ohio.
 

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

·  Develop new product features using Python, C/C++, and/or Qt under the direction of assigned software engineer(s)

·  Create automated test programs under direction of assigned software engineer(s)

Qualifications:

Must be classified as a Junior or Senior school year 2023-2024.

·  Enrolled in Computer Science or equivalent degree-seeking program with classroom experience through the sophomore year.

·  GPA of 3.2 or above.

·  Fast learner with capability to grow in a variety of software development projects

·   C/C++, Qt, and/or Python programming with proven coursework or experience

·   Familiarity with Linux and command shell is strongly preferred

·   Strong organizational, interpersonal, and technical knowledge

·   Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and Microsoft Word

·   Proactive in recognizing improvement opportunities

You will work in a team-oriented office and laboratory environment.

PPE required: Steel toe shoes and eye protection in manufacturing setting.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand, bend, or stoop and use hands, arms and walk frequently. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 35 pounds.
