The Restoration & Protection Planning Unit at the San Diego Water Board has an opening for a Water Resource Control Engineer (WRCE). The position is located at 2375 Northside Drive in San Diego. If you are interested in making a positive difference for the environment by working as a project manager on projects that require creative thinking, working with motivated stakeholder groups, and developing technical documents, you may want to consider this position.  While projects in this unit are complex, those who enjoy creating the template as they go, rather than following a template, will find satisfaction with the final result that will have a lasting impact, and sometimes statewide significance.

Duties:

  1. Manage basin planning, Total Maximum Daily Load (TMDL), or Water Quality Restoration projects.
  2. Manage project contracts, as needed.
  3. Develop internal and external technical or staff reports.
  4. Provide technical reviews, analyses, and assessments.
  5. Participate and communicate at internal and external meetings, locally or statewide.
  6. Staff are expected to be available to work in the office when needed or attend meetings in person when necessary.
  7. Give presentations at Board Meetings as needed.
  8. Assist other staff on projects as needed.
  9. Perform site inspections or field visits as needed.

     

The chosen applicant will be a project manager with oversight by the unit supervisor.

Salary information – CalHR salary rules allow appointment at the entrance rate (Cal. Code Regs., tit. 2, § 599.673) of a classification. For classes with alternate ranges, placement is based on education/experience.

Salary: $6,175.00 - $11,567.00 / month
