Girls Make Games Summer Fellowship
We’re on a mission to increase diversity and inclusivity in the games industry
Girls Make Games launched in 2014 with a single summer camp and has since run programs in over 150 cities worldwide, reaching over 23,000 girls. Along our journey of teaching girls ages 8-18, we’ve met many young adults struggling to break into the games industry. Many wish they had attended GMG when they were younger because of the invaluable exposure and experience the program provides.
This is where the Fellowship comes in.
In its 8th year, the Girls Make Games Summer Fellowship provides participants, or "Fellows", an opportunity to give back to the community by teaching & mentoring kids, an insider’s view of the industry, plus access to exclusive career building opportunities.
Fellows teach at GMG’s virtual summer camp, and attend exclusive industry & community events
PROGRAM DETAILS:
- Location: Remote (Zoom) or In-Person (See locations below)
- Camp Dates: July 8-26, 2024; Fellows-only events will take place after the summer camp season in Fall 2024 - Spring 2025
- Ages: 18+, open to all genders
- Applications accepted on a rolling basis. We encourage you to apply as early as possible since we are typically fully staffed by May
- For in-person only: Fellows must be fully vaccinated and provide proof of vaccination in order to participate.

PROGRAM PERKS:

- Stipend: $2,000
Note: Traditionally GMG provides Fellows a Game Developers Conference (GDC) pass. While we cannot guarantee GDC passes every year, we expect to announce GDC passes at the end of Jan 2025 for 2024 GMG Fellows ages 18+. (GDC Age requirement is: 18+)
CANDIDATE REQUIREMENTS:
- Available for the full duration of the GMG’s summer camp program from July 8-26, 2024.
- Fulfill one of the Camp Roles at camp. Learn more about each role: Camp Counselor, Camp Coordinator, Tech Lead
- Complete remote training with GMG in June 2024
- Legally authorized to work in the USA for in-person camps (US citizen / resident, International: OPT or CPT)
- 18 years of age or older by July 10, 2024
- For in-person only: Fellows must be fully vaccinated and provide proof of vaccination in order to participate.
A STRONG CANDIDATE WILL DEMONSTRATE 2 OR MORE OF THE FOLLOWING:
- Enthusiasm for GMG’s mission & empowering the next generation
- Experience in leadership / management roles
- Experience teaching or mentoring kids under 18
- Game development or technical experience (programming, design, writing, art, music etc)
- Community service record
- Interest in education / video games / technology
- Eagerness to engage & instruct kids in an online setting
