OSP Field Tech

ACRS is a telecommunications engineering company with more than 35 years of experience. We are headquartered in Oklahoma City but have multiple clients in New Mexico where we assist with the design and construction management of fiber optic cable networks. 

ACRS is looking to hire an OSP Field Tech that will take part in helping manage the building out of several New Mexico electric cooperative’s fiber optic plant. Under general supervision of the Resident Engineer, the OSP Field Tech will assist with client projects such as staking routes, inspecting, acceptance of fiber placement, and creating redlines. This is an entry level to 2 years experience where the ideal applicant must be willing to learning new skills in the booming broadband and telecommunications industry, learn to design and inspect fiber optic construction, and have the ability and willingness to travel.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Observe sub-contractor, construction activities, and inspect the workmanship of construction as it pertains to compliance of the plans and specifications provided by the customer.
  • Become familiar with and adhere to RUS and NESC standards and practices.
  • Maintains daily project log and keeps various project records/reports
  • Create the redline construction drawings where inspection has been observed and record the as-built units and routing;
  • Maintain required project inspection forms and provide results to the resident engineer weekly.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Engineering, technical, or geographical background preferred.
  • Must be able to sit for long periods of time and be able to perform physical activities such as bending, standing, climbing, and walking in construction areas outside in most weather conditions
  • Ability to read and understand maps, drawings, and diagrams for fiber construction
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office
  • Valid US Driver’s license, clean driving record, and reliable vehicle
  • Proficient writing skills
  • Personal time management and organization skills.
  • Construction experience preferred, but not required.
  • Fiber optic experienced a plus.
  • Using a Trimble is a plus
  • RUS experience a plus

TRAVEL:

Several job opportunities are for projects within New Mexico but out of state travel may be required. Mileage will be reimbursed.

Schedule:

  • Minimum 8-hour shift with plenty of overtime
  • Day shift
  • Monday to Friday and some weekends

Experience:

  • OSP Field Tech: 1 years a plus
  • Microsoft Office: 2 years (Preferred)
  • GIS experience a plus

 

Pay is based on experience and education level
