Product/Test Engineer

Have you taken apart a smartphone or computer? Have you explored every menu on a new piece of software except the Help menu? We want someone who is observant of small details that might explain a problem.  We want someone who always looks for alternative ways to do things faster, cheaper, or better.

Product Test Engineers join almost all of NXP’s Business Lines, including: Microcontroller & Microprocessor Engineering, Automotive Processors, Advanced Analog, Connectivity & Security, Edge Processing, and Operations.

Scope of Responsibilities/Expectations

  • Responsible for all aspects of characterizing, qualifying and releasing products in high volume manufacturing.
  • Participate in new product/technology core team to define:  validation and characterization, cost structure and test/manufacturing strategy for the product/technology.
  • Work entails coordination and interfacing with diverse areas and functions internal and external to NXP to launch new products into production.
  • Ensure products released to manufacturing meet schedule, test time, cost and yield requirements.
  • Detailed understanding of production test, reliability and qualification methodologies.
  • Own and drive product characterization – create characterization plans, define matrix lots, perform statistical data analysis and deliver reports on performance to specification.
  • Drive cost reduction and yield enhancement projects interfacing with internal and external factories.
  • Assist with customer issues and quality incidents.
  • Help drive product/test standardization, solutions and methodologies to improve product cycle time and cost.

Job Qualifications:

  • BS or MS in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or similar
  • Up to 2 years experience, including internships
  • Self-motivated team player that can work with various cross functional teams
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Knowledge and experience in the following is considered a plus:  statistical data analysis, integrated circuits in CMOS technology, automatic test equipment (ATE), design for test (DFT) techniques, programming and application of microcontrollers.
  • Ability to organize assignments and schedule time.
  • Analytical & diagnostics skills.
  • Innovative problem solver and lateral thinker.
