Travel Model Development Intern

RSG is looking for students who are passionate about transportation and analytics to apply for our summer 2024 internships! As an intern at RSG, you’ll work alongside our analysts and have the opportunity to work on interesting and challenging projects. Intern tasks will include assisting with data cleaning and analysis, creating visualizations for model validation, and conducting research into data and methods for model development and support. As a collegial consultancy with roots in academia, you’ll be encouraged to use your RSG internship experience as an opportunity to explore what interests you.

Our internships begin in May and end in August. Successful applicants may choose to work from one of our offices in Washington, DC, Chicago, Illinois, or Portland, Oregon.

Education, Experience, and Skills

Current undergraduate or graduate student who is majoring in transportation, urban planning, mathematics, statistics, computer science, software engineering, data science or other related field.

Strong interest in analytic, quantitative, and problem-solving skills.

Well organized, detail-oriented, resourceful, and flexible.

Demonstrated ability to meet deadlines.

Demonstrated ability to work both independently and on a team.

Strong written, verbal, and interpersonal skills.

Experience with working with data and conducting analyses using statistical packages and scripting languages (e.g. Python, SQL, or R)

Basic proficiency with MS Office tools (e.g., Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint).

Aptitude for using technology in work processes.

Solid written and verbal communication skills.

Physical Demands

Ability to stand or sit for prolonged periods.

Ability to operate a computer and other office machinery, such as a calculator, copy machine, or computer printer.

Ability to clearly communicate with colleagues and clients. Must be able to exchange accurate information in these situations.
