Supervisory Physical Scientist, ZP-1301-5 | GLERL - Ann Arbor, MI | PR-387768

NOAA's Great Lakes Environmental Research Laboratory (GLERL) located in Ann Arbor, MI is hiring a Supervisory Physical Scientist, ZP-1301-5 (ZP-5 is equivalent to GS-15). The announcement will be open for 14 days; it is set to open on 1/2/2024 and close on 1/15/2024.

 

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Direct/manage the Observing Systems and Advanced Technology (OSAT) program in the development and operation of observing system technology that supports Great Lakes Environmental Research Laboratory (GLERL) scientific research, meets emerging infrastructure needs, and provides environmental awareness to stakeholders throughout the entire Great Lakes Region.
  • Serve as an expert consultant in the management and administration of National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA)/Great Lakes Environmental Research Laboratory (GLERL) research program and provide expert advice and coordination with partners. Serve as technical authority while managing projects involving multiple scientific fields of work, observation analysis, and data processing that are highly visible to the mission of the agency.
  • Provide administrative and technical supervision necessary for accomplishing the work of the branch such as assigning work to subordinates; developing and implementing work performance standards and evaluating employee work performance.
     

Specialized Experience include all of the following:

  • Providing project oversight in the development and operation of technology that supports scientific research and provides environmental awareness to stakeholders;
  • Analyzing results of research and ecosystem observations for use in developing understanding of ecosystem structure and functions; and
  • Providing technical guidance and direction to stakeholders on observing system applications, data analysis, or observational products and services.
