Florida 4-H Environmental Education AmeriCorps Member
4-H is the nation’s largest youth development organization. There are 6.5 million young people in grades K-12 enrolled in the 4-H programs across America and approximately 200,000 within the State of Florida. This non-formal, practical educational program for youth is the youth development program of Florida Cooperative Extension – part of the University of Florida IFAS. The Florida 4-H Youth Development Program uses a learn-by-doing approach and caring adults to help youth gain the knowledge and life skills they need to be productive, responsible citizens.
Florida 4-H AmeriCorps Environmental Educators will serve a critical role in delivering 4-H youth environmental education programs about Florida’s air, land, soil, and water, both on-site at 4-H Camp Timpoochee and through outreach at schools, communities, organizations, etc.
Essential Tasks
Help to book, organize, deliver, and evaluate educational on and off site programs for students in grades K-12 related to Florida land, air, soil, and water using Florida 4-H Environmental Education curriculum.
High School diploma or its equivalent is minimum requirements. Preferred qualification is a Bachelors Degree, or an equivalent combination of education and relevant experience, in sciences, education, natural resources, youth development, recreational leadership or other related fields is required. Must pass a Background Screening prior to hire. Valid driver’s license preferred.
