Our Intern program will give you a chance to get real world bioinformatics experience and build your network before graduation. In this position, you will be encouraged to learn about how Data Scientists support our business units with software, analyses and AI expertise. You will focus on developing solutions that will improve our scientific instrument platforms, chemistries and reagents to enable the next generation of scientific discovery. You can expect to gain valuable insights into your chosen career field.

 

Summary of Internship

The Bioinformatics Internship position provides an opportunity for students who are currently pursuing a bioinformatics, statistics, data science, computer science, computer engineering, or similar degree to get hands on experience working with senior R&D Data Scientists in a fast-paced environment!

 

Qualifications

Full-time bachelor's student in bioinformatics, statistics/biostatistics, data science, computer science, computer engineering, or similar field

 

What are the exciting things will you be working on?

Develop data analysis solutions to help Thermo Fisher improve business and scientific workflows.

Collect and prepare disparate data for integration.

Train algorithmic models to detect trends and help define conclusions.

Learn to deploy deep learning models.

 

Technologies you will learn:

Bioinformatics software, both locally installed and web-based tools.

Performing in silico simulations of life sciences analytical procedures.

Applying statistical learning and machine learning concepts to biological datasets.

 

Preferred Education/Experience:

Good programming skills in Python, R, Bash or Perl.

Familiarity with working in Linux, Mac and Windows environments.

Ability to work independently and as a member of a multi-functional team.

 

Knowledge, Skills, Abilities:

Demonstrate a passion for machine learning and bioinformatics.

Basic knowledge in machine learning or statistical learning is a plus.

Basic knowledge of statistics, linear algebra, and calculus is a plus.

Some exposure to GitHub is a plus.

 

Compensation: The estimated hourly pay rate for this role is $23.75 - $26.50
