Civil/Environmental Engineer

Aptim is pleased to announce an immediate opening for a Project Civil/Environmental Engineer in our St. Charles, Illinois office in order to support our exciting portfolio of projects. Our St. Charles office operates as the national consulting and engineering center for Aptim's Solid Waste Services Division, and as a regional hub for our Environmental Site Assessment and Remediation Group. We provide the following services to both the public and private sectors:

  • Local siting and zoning,
  • Facility design and permitting,
  • Stormwater modeling and management plan development,
  • Construction oversight,
  • Operations and maintenance,
  • Hydrogeologic and geotechnical investigations,
  • Environmental compliance audits,
  • Facility closure and redevelopment plans,
  • Solid waste planning and public education, and
  • Environmental site assessments and remediation.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assisting with data collection and analysis,
  • Reviewing plans and specifications,
  • Supporting facility design,
  • Understanding applicable regulatory requirements.
  • Preparing engineering calculations and supporting analyses,
  • Performing detailed technical analyses of complex issues.
  • Writing reports,
  • Developing scopes and budgets,
  • Providing construction oversight,
  • Collaborating with other team members,
  • Assisting project managers,
  • Attending client meetings, and
  • Providing other duties as required.

Basic Qualifications:

  • BS/MS Environmental or Civil Engineering
  • 0-5 years of experience
  • Ability to work on multidisciplinary project work
  • Excellent oral & written communication skills
  • Ability to work in a team environment
  • Self-starter and problem solver
  • Excellent organizational skills
  • Engineer in Training (EIT) designation from the NCEES, a plus
  • Knowledge of AutoCAD, HEC-RAS, and ArcGIS software, a plus
